Frank Adlington-Stringer’s first act as a local councillor was to develop a plan to plant trees across our village, and just 10 months later the first sapling was planted. Months of planning and hard work has gone into making this a reality. Trees have a number of positive effects such as providing a boost for our mental health and improving the natural beauty of Wingerworth.
A variety of species have been planted on the park just off Adlington Avenue, on Chartwell Avenue and Deer Park. Frank was keen to ensure that these trees were deployed effectively. By planting Goat Willow and other wetland thriving tree species, Frank hopes to help prevent some of the flooding around our parks and reduce the bogginess of our football pitches.
Alongside his hard work planning, Frank got stuck in with the planting himself. He wanted local people to be involved with this project and help plant trees. In order to encourage this, commemorative plastic free stickers (image below) were given to volunteers. Frank is very grateful to everyone who helped, and gives a BIG thank you to all those involved!
