Fact Check: Barry Lewis' climate rhetoric

Barry Lewis, County and District Councillor for Wingerworth and Leader of Derbyshire Conservatives, has ramped up his rhetoric on climate change without increasing his climate action. I have seen an email sent by Barry Lewis to a local resident who was so amazed at the action taken by the Conservative councillors that they just had to tell me about it. I then spent a lot of time explaining to the resident that a lot of what Barry Lewis had said in his email was deliberately confusing or at the very least over hyped. I felt a sense of responsibility to share this information as I am sure that many others have fallen foul of this rhetoric. I have spent a long time researching this and have attached links where possible. If you have any questions, just ask. Politics, especially at a local level, should be about honest communication. To me, its about working with the community, for the community. It is a pity that I have to post a 'fact check' and further sow distrust in politicians (I promise we aren't all the same) but I want to do all I can to ensure you, the public, our community, the people we as representatives are here to serve, are informed. I hope that this is a useful resource and that it explains things clearly.
