Local man, James Cutts, has pulled out all of the stops to entertain and inspire our community. James explained that it all started as a bit of fun but the response he received from residents was overwhelming. The local man donned a whole host of superhero outfits in order to bring happiness to our villages amidst the difficulty of the lockdown. With the support of local residents James’ original 5 mile run ended up being nearly 13 miles in total.
James says that he has ‘covered well over 100 miles as Batman, Spiderman and Iron-man’. His aim was to cheer up the local kids who have been forced to stay home.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to the people in Wingerworth and Shirland who have become our covid champions.” – Frank Adlington-Stringer
This display of community spirit is just one example of the kindness offered by our community throughout this crisis. James intends to keep up the good work and hopes to occasionally treat our community to his superhero runs again in the future. One thing is for sure, Wingerworth and Shirland has shown its resilience and come together. Thank you to all of the superheroes out there!
